Happy Friday! I wanted to post something fun, but before I get to that, I know that with mass layoffs in the video game and tech industry right now, there's not a lot to be happy about. I think that it is extremely short-sighted of companies to lay off people for short-term gains. Exponential profit, stocks, and shareholders are not the things that make your company great. It's the people. It's their talent and their hard work day in and day out that builds a company, and it should be rewarded. I think the current layoff cycle is horrible and I hope we can all work towards something better. Back to why I posted: I wanted to share with you all the Global Game Jam game that my team and I made. Like many of my colleagues, I got into games because I love it, and I want to share that passion and joy with others by making games and seeing people play them. Each year I do a couple of game jams to hone some skills, be creative, and recapture that excitement for making games. This is the game my team and I came up with. Mike - I had the worst customer experience of my life this past Tuesday. Since you contracted out most customer support overseas - I wasn't able to get anyone on the phone or web to verify my identify because I forgot my pin. We all know the pin is just so you can outsource the support overseas. I called over 14 times and was hung up on 14 times over the span of 10 hours. I was told to go to a physical store so I could dispute the erroneous charges on my already cancelled account. Tell me, how can one purchase a service online and then be told they need to go to one of their box stores to cancel said service. Doesn't that violate various consumer protection acts? What if one was disabled, deployed overseas, or any other number of reasons why travelling might be an issue. I was told by one of your call center's "Operations Manager" to create a Power of Attorney so my wife could go to the store in my stead.... asinine. And to make things even worse - I post one thing on twitter about my experience and then get support immediately. I have never been so disrespected by another business/company in my entire life. You have a MAJOR flaw in your customer support model and it is nothing short of discriminatory.
