WPT Global announced 100% rake-free tournaments on April 1, leading many online poker grinders to wrongly believe it was an April Fool’s joke. However, the promotion is not a joke. It is very real; WPT Global will not charge rake on its tournaments from April 1 to 28.

How Does the 100% Rake Free MTTs Promotion Work?

Players do not have to do anything to receive value from this promotion except to buy into their favorite tournaments. Fire up your WPT Global account, find a tournament you want to play, buy in, and your entire buy-in will go into the prize pool. If you play a $5.50 MTT, all $5.50 goes into the prize pool, not $5, and WPT Global keeps $0.50 for rake. Similarly, the full $320 is put in the prize pool, not $300, and $20 is retained as a rake.

WPT Global does note that there may still be a few tournaments that have rake charged during the promotional period (April 1-28), such as qualifiers for live events, online Day 1s, and some tournaments set up by WPT Global’s affiliates. These tournaments will have their rake clearly indicated in their lobbies.
